About Us
Mayfield Jays was founded in 1988 by Major (Rtd) Peter Mallas and his wife Wendy. After spending many years in the Army as a Bandmaster and Director of Music and shortly returning from overseas, Peter decided that he wished to go into business for himself, yet still trying to maintain the creative side of his persona.
During his many years in the Army he saw the quality of hand embroidery used to represent the bands he led and thought that it might be a challenge to improve on them and provide products that he himself would be proud to display.
His key focus was to provide high quality hand embroidered products, at a reasonable price, made in a more realistic time scale than the current market could deliver.
With his firm grounding conducting bands he originally started supplying Music Stand Banners and after many requests by his customers, moved on to include badges, then pennants and many more products that you can see on display today.
Peter's key focus has not changed to this day – well over a decade and a half later. Keeping the company small yet manageable, Mayfield Jays still offer a personal and friendly service, maintaining consistent quality and always endeavouring to satisfy their customers.
